Distribution of Trace Elements in Clay and Coal of Pa Kha Coalfield

E-mail Print PDF

Abstract

Trace element dispersions in sediments associated with coal seams in Pa Kha basin, Amphoe Li, Lamphun province, Northern part of Thailand, are depending on the depositional environment during the coal and sediment accumulation. In both coal zones, arsenic and cobalt show reverse proportion to the ash content while other elements show no perspicuous relationship. The greenish layer of the interburden contains the highest concentration of the elements in a basic volcanic rock. The contents of such elements, especially chromium, nickel and vanadium, could indicate the volcanic eruption during the deposition of Pa Kha coalfield.
