Abstract

Overview

The Department of Geology-Mines was established in June 2006 belong the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM). Later in the year 2011 the Department of Geology-Mines was separated into two Departments as the Department of Geology and Minerals (DGM) under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) and the Department of Mines under the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM).

The Department of Geology and Minerals is one organization, which obtains formal structure of administration-technicians under responsibility for the Ministry of Natural Resources of Environment (MoNRE). The DGM roles pay on two main activities. There are conducting geological map for minerals prospection and exploration and monitoring and evaluation on minerals investment both state and private investment. Moreover, the DGM is a committee secretariat to the MoNRE for researching, planning to survey mapping, geology-minerals, prospecting, survey minerals system with grid line and other scale; great requirements, procedures relating for management of minerals prospection and exploration in the whole country; managing investments phase prospecting, exploration and pre-feasibly study.
